‘TIKVAH’
Before I went to Israel last, I was carrying the crushing weight of hopelessness. The grief, the fear, the helplessness - it all felt endless, but in Israel, in the midst of national trauma, against the wail of air raid sirens, in underground bomb shelters, in the eyes of survivors, and in the story of rescued hostage Luis Har, I found something unexpected: hope. Hope became the central theme of my visit. It became a new tattoo on my arm. And it became the inspiration for what I would create when I returned home. In Hostage Square there’s an art installation dedicated to LuisHar (last photo) It says Tikvah - hope in Hebrew. Luis’ inspiration for the statue was to spread hope, light and colour. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to recreate it in my own style.
