“I create art for pleasure, beauty, and function. each piece is a story shaped with patience, care, and painstaking attention to detail.”
Stories connect us across time - to those who came before us, to one another, and to the generations who will follow. Through my art, I seek to preserve those stories, transforming human experience into intricate contemporary works rich with symbolism and meaning.
As a self-taught, Melbourne-based paper artist, I have spent more than fifteen years exploring the creative possibilities of paper as both medium and message. Working with thousands of individually handcrafted elements, I create artworks that explore themes of memory, resilience, hope, identity, and human connection. Every detail is intentional, with layers of symbolism inviting viewers to look beyond the surface and discover the narratives hidden within.
Beginning with a single strip of paper, it never ceases to thrill me that such a humble material can be transformed into something capable of carrying complex stories and emotions. Using universal touchstone symbols such as mandalas, hamsas, flowers, and other symbolic forms, I seek to create points of connection that resonate with the viewer. Colour also plays an important role in my practice. I love discovering unexpected relationships between colours that might not ordinarily be matched, while white continues to captivate me for its purity, innocence, and its ability to quietly draw us in, rather than call to us.
In 2015, my exhibition ‘Paper Round’ became the first solo exhibition by a quilling artist in Australia, marking a milestone in challenging perceptions of quilling as an ancient craft and demonstrating its potential as a powerful contemporary art form. My work has subsequently been represented by Nissarana Galleries in Noosa and on the Mornington Peninsula, exhibited at the Other Art Fair, and acquired by museums and private collectors in Australia and internationally. My original hand-gilded gold hamsa, created for the Sydney Jewish Museum's exhibition Jews from Islamic Lands, now forms part of the museum's permanent collection, and my work has also been exhibited at the Queensland Holocaust Museum.
International recognition has included an invitation to join the Paper Artists Collective, an invitation-only group of 100 leading paper artists from around the world, and being named by Design & Paper as one of 64 paper artists to follow on Instagram. My work is also regularly commissioned as presentation pieces and cultural gifts for local and visiting dignitaries and prominent international guests such as Goldie Hawn, Jane Seymour, and former UK and Canadian Prime Ministers David Cameron and Stephen Harper.
At the heart of my practice is a belief that art can serve as both witness and bridge: preserving stories from the past, helping us make sense of the present, and creating connections for the future. Whether creating thoughtful commissions, public artworks, or museum exhibitions, I strive to produce work that invites reflection, sparks conversation, and encourages meaningful engagement. Through symbolism, craftsmanship, and meticulous attention to detail, my goal is to create art that is not only beautiful, but meaningful - work that continues telling its story long after the frame has been sealed.
I welcome commissions and collaborative projects.
